Job summary

JBS USA is seeking a Maintenance Clerk to coordinate daily maintenance tasks with supervisors and production teams, ensuring work orders are issued, parts are stocked, and PMs are scheduled.

The role emphasizes CMMS usage, inventory control, vendor coordination, and Lean/5S practices; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. This is an on-site role located in Tolleson, AZ, offering growth within our maintenance organization.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical training preferred.
  • Experience in maintenance planning or administrative support preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with maintenance supervisors, leads and production supervisors daily to identify tasks for the current day or weekend.
  • Assigns work based on equipment availability and passes work orders to maintenance supervisors.
  • Orders parts for jobs when not in stock.
  • Review backlog and prioritize with maintenance supervisors.
  • Convert work requests into work orders and generate PM schedules.
  • Run weekly PM printouts for the upcoming week and track open PM tasks.
  • Monitor downtime and adjust PM frequency as needed for key equipment.
  • Maintain daily report of critical work not yet scheduled.
  • Interact with department heads to adjust priorities and schedule accordingly.
  • Ensure all parts are on hand before issuing a work order to a supervisor.
  • Manage work orders through CMMS from creation to closure.

Maintenance Clerk


  • Work with the maintenance supervisors, maintenance leads and production supervisors on a daily basis on work that needs to get done that day, or on the weekend.

  • Assigns work based on the equipment availability schedule and give the work orders to the maintenance supervisors for the tasks to be performed on that day.

  • Orders parts for all jobs that we do not have the parts in stock to carry out.

  • Visits every work request that crosses their desk to determine schedule, and parts needs.

  • Reviews the backlog report on a daily basis and is working with the maintenance supervisors that we are prioritizing properly.

  • Turns work requests into work orders.

  • Run weekly printout of all pms for the upcoming week.

  • Assigns pm tasks and tracks the pm work orders that are open that need to be a priority.

  • Monitors the downtime report and determines if we need to look at the frequency of pm on a certain piece of equipment.

  • Maintains a daily report of critical work that has yet to be scheduled.

  • Visits each department head daily and goes through the open work and determines if something should be moved up on the priority list. Ex Continuous, Filter room, WWTP, Hide and then schedules said work accordingly.

  • No work order to be given to a maintenance supervisor unless all parts are on hand to carry out the task.

  • Work Order Management: Create, prioritize, assign, and close work orders using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate, schedule, and follow up on preventive maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections with technicians or contractors.


Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels for tools, equipment, and spare parts, including ordering and receiving supplies.


Vendor relations and communication: Track orders and follow up with vendors to better schedule upcoming tasks and repairs. Track service schedules with several contractors to ensure smooth equipment operation.


5S Implementation: Responsible for auditing, sustaining, and improving 5S practices to ensure a safe, efficient, and visually controlled workplace. The ideal candidate will train team members on Lean methodologies, eliminate waste through organized work environments, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.



Preferred Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical training in Maintenance, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • Previous experience in a maintenance planning, maintenance clerk, parts coordinator, or administrative support role preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with maintenance, production, and vendor partners.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
