Qualifications

• 10+ years in business development, sales or operations in rail/logistics.
• Strong understanding of railcar repair processes and regulatory standards.
• Proven success in client acquisition and revenue growth.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel 50%+.

Responsibilities

• Identify and engage prospective clients in railcar leasing, manufacturing, and industrial sectors.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
• Develop and execute sales plans to meet revenue targets.
• Prepare proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
• Analyze market trends, competitor offerings and regulatory changes (e.g., AAR, FRA).
• Coordinate with operations and technical teams to align service capabilities with customer expectations.
• Support marketing efforts and represent Compass Rail at trade shows and industry events.
• Develop proposal capture procedures and lead preparation of commercial proposals.
• Maintain marketing data and client lists to support targeted outreach.
• Leverage data to draft formal proposals with suggested pricing for senior management review.

Position Summary

The V.P. of Business Development will lead strategic growth initiatives for Compass Rail's repair and transload services. This senior role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, securing key partnerships, and expanding the company's footprint in key markets-particularly in Mobile Repair Unit (MRU) and Running Repair Agent (RRA) operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Client Development
