Job summary

Bay West is seeking a UXO Technician II for MEC support on an upcoming project in Pueblo, CO. The role involves on-site demilitarization, handling MEC materials, and ensuring MPPEH is safely certified for DoD transfer or release, in accordance with current safety standards.

Candidate must have OSHA HAZWOPER training (40h + 8h refresher), valid driver’s license, and 3+ years of EOD/UXO experience. Travel to client sites nationwide may be required, with adherence to health and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training completed.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to pass background check.
• Graduate of US EOD school or Allied Nation EOD school or equivalent UXO Technician Level I training.
• Minimum of 3 years of EOD/UXO operational experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and supervise MEC demilitarization on site.
• Inspect and certify MPPEH for DoD transfer or release.
• Handle and move demolition materials following safety protocols.
• Travel to client sites and project locations nationwide as needed.
• Follow all health & safety practices and COVID-19 related requirements.

This Opportunity

We are seeking a UXO Technician II for UXO support at an upcoming project in Pueblo, CO.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Ability to handle in a safe manner the vehicle assigned to drive within and in the vicinity of the site.
• On-the-job training including, but not limited to familiarity with the process, procedures, and equipment (e.g., geophysical) used for conducting MEC-related activities.
• Supervise and perform the on-site demilitarization of munitions of explosive concern (MEC), and handling of demolition materials.
• Inspect and certify and/or verify Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) as safe, or as to the explosive hazard it may present for transfer within Department of Defense (DoD) or release from DoD control per current policies and standards.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Individual must have OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training, annual 8-hr HAZWOPER Refresher training.
• Valid state driver's license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
• Graduate of US EOD school, acceptable Allied Nation EOD school (i.e., Great Britain, Germany, Australia, and Canada) or accredited comparable UXO Technician Level I training and with appropriate experience as required by Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) Technical Paper (TP) 18.
• Minimum of 3 years of EOD and/or UXO operational experience.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outdoor weather conditions, we and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts.
• The candidate may be asked to travel extensively to client sites and/or project locations nationwide as part of their essential duties.
• Must be fluent in the English language - writing and speaking, etc.
• Must comply with all applicable health & safety practices and protocols, including health orders and regulations related to COVID-19 that are mandated by local, state, and federal authorities.
