UXO Technician II: Field Ordnance Specialist

Job summary

Weston is seeking an experienced UXO Technician II to identify and classify unexploded ordnance and discarded munitions across field operations. The role includes excavating, moving munitions with acceptable risk, and supervising support staff during UXO sweeps.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma (or military EOD) and UXO/NAVSCOLEOD training; familiarity with NAVSCOLEOD underwater procedures is preferred. Heavy fieldwork and transport tasks are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or prior military EOD experience, or three years in munitions response or range clearance.
• Graduate of UXO training course or EOD assistant courses.
• Underwater NAVSCOLEOD training completed (or foreign equivalent).
• Problem sensitivity to detect issues and anomalies.
• Deductive reasoning to apply rules to problems.
• Physical ability to perform demanding field activities.
• Ability to identify objects, actions and events relevant to UXO work.

Responsibilities

• Properly store explosive materials per applicable guidance.
• Determine precise field locations using GPS, maps and compass.
• Identify contaminated soil through field collection procedures.
• Prepare on-site holding areas to stow MEC with acceptable risk.
• Operate transportation for UXO with acceptable risk.
• Perform limited supervision of UXO Sweep Personnel.
• Escort non-UXO personnel within exclusion areas.
• Inspect MPPEH for explosives safety hazards.
