Job summary

Mile 2 is seeking a Design / Research practitioner to design systems for human cognitive load, complex workflows, and decision-making. Mile 2 Cognitive Systems Engineers (CSEs) will analyze and optimize fast-moving, human-centric environments and bridge advanced tools with workflows for defense stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Active U.S. security clearance is required.
• Onsite work in Dayton, OH or Boston, MA is required.
• 3–6 years of professional cognitive systems engineering or related role.
• Strong ability to map mental models and assess cognitive workload.
• Experience bridging technical teams with non-technical end-users.
• Experience with DoD programs encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Design systems for human cognitive load and complex workflows.
• Analyze and optimize human-system interaction for DoD projects.
• Lead projects as Principal Investigator or lead engineer.
• Produce actionable CSE reports and recommendations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and defend project direction.
