Position Description

Softdocs is looking for a mid- to senior level UX researcher strong in mixed methods who will be responsible for informing product decisions through deep user insight and strategic research initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers throughout the product lifecycle as the voice of the user
• Own the discovery research process from planning through synthesis: utilize mixed methods to construct an adaptable process for both discovery and evaluation
• Digest quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sources into simplified patterns and actionable insights
• Translate research insights and product requirements into findings into practical, user-centered design recommendations
• Conduct usability tests, consult analytics, and define success metrics and KPIs to evaluate features in production

The Ideal Candidate

• 3-5+ years of experience conducting UX research in SaaS in collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods, including but not limited to user interviews, unmoderated testing, surveys, and analytics
• Can showcase 2-3 case studies detailing the impact of your research on a shipped product or feature
• Strategic – you view problems holistically and your recommendations are considerate of how the ecosystem at large may be impacted
• Collaborative – you bring the user’s perspective to product discussions and can synthesize in collaboration with product managers and engineers
• Analytical – you can interpret data from multiple sources to define patterns and insights
• Curious – your default mindset is discovery, and you dive headfirst into problems
• Empathic – you are interested in the experiences of others and can set your own biases aside

Bonus if you have

• Experience working across a suite of products SaaS environment
• Familiarity working with public sector users in government and education
• Experience conducting generative research in an ambiguous problem space
• Strong UX design chops and experience working with design systems
• Familiarity with accessibility best practices and WCAG compliance
• Proficiency in SQL and analytics platforms (Datadog, Google Analytics)
