Job description

The Artificial Intelligence Orchestration (AIO) team is responsible for how GILLIG puts artificial intelligence to work across the enterprise. We are committed to adopting AI thoughtfully and securely, growing the AI fluency of every organization we support, and delivering applications that make GILLIG faster, smarter, and easier to do business with. Our engineers are engaged in strategy, mentorship, and hands‑on development across a wide range of business and technical areas, and the solutions we deliver serve both internal teams and external customers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a UX Engineer to own the look, feel, and usability of every application the AIO team delivers. The position blends design and front‑end engineering. You will partner with GILLIG's Creative Director to translate company branding into a living design system, then build that system as reusable, LLM‑ready templates. You will also serve as the team's single accountable focal point for UX across a growing portfolio of internally developed applications.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
  • Partner with GILLIG’s Creative Director to translate company branding into concrete UI standards, components, and patterns
  • Create proof‑of‑concept wireframes and clickable prototypes at project inception to shape scope with stakeholders before code is written
  • Build and maintain a reusable UI template and component library (design tokens, layouts, styled components) engineered so LLM coding tools can reliably re‑deploy it across all internally developed applications
  • Collect stakeholder needs directly and serve as the team’s single, accountable focal point for UX
  • Ensure every application meets GILLIG branding guidelines and direction, is intuitive, and meets stakeholder expectations
  • Ensure UX consistency across the full application portfolio
  • Review front‑end implementation on products the team delivers and continuously improve the design system as the portfolio grows
  • Establish lightweight UX standards (accessibility, responsive behavior, interaction patterns) the whole team can apply without a designer in the loop on every screen
  • Support the team’s AI Fluency mission by teaching other organizations how to build on the design system and templates when using AI tools
  • Define and standardize the front‑end technology stack
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with modern design tools (Figma or equivalent) for wireframing, prototyping, and design‑system management
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system, component library, or UI template set
  • A portfolio demonstrating shipped interfaces and the reasoning behind them
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to hold a quality bar with senior stakeholders while staying collaborative
  • Experience with LLM‑based development tools (e.g., Claude Code, OpenCode, Codex) preferred
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and responsive design preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer
