Role Overview

We’re looking for a User Experience (UX) designer with 3-5 years of experience who is interested in joining our tight-knit team and helping build exceptional user experiences for our clients. As practitioners of the human-centered design (HCD) process, UX designers are involved with user research, strategy, and interaction design. Additionally, as a consultant, you will need to work closely with our client stakeholders across a variety of industries including B2B enterprise software, healthcare, and finance. As a design team member, you will play a crucial role in crafting intuitive, engaging user experiences across the digital platforms of our clients, meeting both user needs and key business objectives.

Because we’re a small team in a fast-paced environment, we’re looking for someone who can work with a high degree of independence, can take initiative, and is eager to tackle design challenges head-on. Designers on our team have opportunities to gain hands-on experience across a range of projects and develop their skills rapidly through real, impactful contributions.

Please note that this role may require minimal travel for the occasional client project or company-wide event.

What You Will Bring and Do
  • Design and create user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Understand business objectives in order to make informed design decisions and create deliverables that align to a client’s overall business strategy
  • Create research plans, conduct user research and usability testing, and synthesize data to highlight strategic opportunities and design next steps
  • Iterate on designs based on user and client feedback, usability testing results, and other data-driven insights
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with our client teams to define and prioritize features and functionality based on user and business requirements
  • Familiarity with the technical considerations and technologies needed when designing for web and mobile platforms
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices throughout the product design process
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques, and technologies in UX design and share knowledge with the team to help foster a culture of learning and innovation
  • Communicate design ideas and rationale effectively to stakeholders and solicit feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Work closely with other team members including design leads, project managers and visual designers
  • Interest in contributing to the culture and success of Fuzzy Math outside of client projects

Requirements
  • 3-5 years of UX work experience
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability best practices, and UX research methodologies
  • Has worked on UX design teams that have utilized the full HCD design process (including research and interaction design)
  • Has experience working on digital web applications or enterprise tools
  • Proficiency in Figma, or other industry relevant design tools and well-versed in working with design systems
  • Strong understanding of product strategy and has experience aligning design decisions with product goals, identifying user and business opportunities, and evaluating impact through relevant metrics and added business value
  • Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for creating exceptional user experiences and solving complex design challenges
  • Can demonstrate strong storytelling and strategic thinking skills through a portfolio or other work samples
  • Located in the United States with the ability to maintain core hours in the Central Time Zone
  • Authorized to work in the United States (we are unable to offer sponsorship at this time)
Competitive Qualities
  • Previous experience working at a consultancy
  • General knowledge of the visual design process as it applies to the UX design field
  • Skills in high-fidelity UI production and prototyping using Figma
  • Previous experience working closely with other functional areas including product managers, developers, or technical engineers
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related field. Master’s degree is a plus
  • Fully remote

Compensation
  • The general salary range for this position is $85,000-$93,000 annually, depending on experience and location
  • Final compensation will be based on qualifications, relevant experience, and internal equity
  • This range includes multiple career levels at Fuzzy Math and may be further refined during the interview process
