About The Role
The role sits at the center of product development, translating ambiguous business problems into interfaces that millions of users interact with every day. This is a hands-on design position focused on complex product surfaces - dashboards, onboarding flows, and multi-step workflows - not marketing sites or static mockups.
The designer will work directly with product managers, engineers, and researchers in a tightly integrated product trio model, owning design quality from first sketch through shipped pixel. The impact is measurable: reduced task completion times, higher activation, and fewer support tickets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design for core product areas - from problem framing and user flows through high-fidelity UI, prototyping, and engineering handoff in Figma
- Conduct regular usability testing sessions (5-8 participants per round), synthesize findings, and translate insights into prioritized design recommendations
- Build and maintain interactive prototypes in Figma (and tools like ProtoPie or Framer when fidelity demands it) to validate concepts before engineering investment
- Contribute to and evolve the design system - components, patterns, and documentation - working closely with frontend engineers on implementation quality
- Partner with UX researchers on discovery work: diary studies, contextual inquiries, and survey design to ground roadmap decisions in user evidence
- Define and track success metrics for design work (task completion, time-on-task, error rates) and iterate based on quantitative and qualitative feedback
- Present design rationale to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, defending decisions with research data and usability evidence
What We Are Looking For
- 3-6 years of product design experience shipping software used at scale, with a portfolio demonstrating complex interaction problems - not just visual polish
- Deep proficiency in Figma, including auto-layout, variables, and component architecture for design systems
- Hands-on experience planning and running usability tests, including writing discussion guides, moderating sessions, and synthesizing findings independently
- Strong interaction design fundamentals: information architecture, navigation models, form design, and responsive layout across breakpoints
- Comfort working in an agile environment - participating in sprint planning, writing specs, and doing weekly QA with engineers on shipped work
- Bachelor's degree in HCI, Design, Psychology, or equivalent practical experience; formal research training is a plus but not required
- Bonus: Experience with data-heavy interfaces (analytics tools, admin consoles, B2B workflows), familiarity with SQL or product analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel), or motion design skills
