Job description

This is a contract role through Magnit for a personal finance company who offers financial products, educational, content, and tools on a digital platform for users to make informed financial decisions. This role is remote in the US ONLY with a strong preference for candidates in PST.

Too often, the world of personal finance is obscure, stuffy, and promotional — leaving people feeling unsure about what is the best path for them. But, NerdWallet’s changing all that. We’re looking for someone who loves copywriting and content strategy and is a dedicated, strategic-minded creative problem solver passionate about making the world of personal finance clear, human and approachable.

As a qualified candidate, you’ll be proficient in product UX copywriting and content strategy and have a track record of successful product ideation, collaboration, and content execution, as well as the ability to write on-brand copy that inspires and educates. Also a must? Partnering closely with our product managers and product designers to proactively refine strategy, as well as identify new ways to improve business metrics.

Although product copy work will be a primary responsibility, you’ll be working on other types of projects. This could include email copy writing, product marketing and beyond. You’ll need a strong sense of brand voice, and how to flex your skills into each space, to be effective.

Where you can make an impact:

  • Write and optimize product experience content.
  • Strategize on how content is integrated into the product experience to keep it clean and simple, while giving users the ability to go deeper on details if they need/choose to build knowledge and trust
  • Write and edit customer communications. Forming a relationship with our users via personalized information and delightful storytelling within their inbox
  • Perspective that allows you to zoom out and see the entire product customer journey, and gaps in knowledge and information that need to be addressed
  • Understand how email fits into and supports the larger NerdWallet customer journey
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure content and visuals work together and that product iterations go out on time and with a high quality bar
  • Share your work across teams. Expertly articulating your creative approach
  • Practice and advocate for simplicity, clarity, and brevity in all communication channels
  • Digest performance metrics and stay on top of industry trends and standard processes
  • Help with product marketing, finding moments of surprise and delight within product experiences where voice and personality can make an impact.

Skills:

We recognize not everyone will meet all of these requirements. If you meet most of the criteria below and you’re passionate about the opportunity and willing to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

  • 3-4 years of related experience on an in-house creative team or at an advertising or marketing agency
  • A strong portfolio — featuring innovative and thoughtful product experiences and success stories
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • A love of storytelling and thinking creatively to build impactful user experiences and marketing materials
  • Bonus points: Experience writing about investing products

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)

The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $30-$34/hr

Benefits:

Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K (provided minimum eligibility hours are met)
