The UNC Upward Bound Program seeks a Temporary Upward Bound College Prep Coach Instructor to teach rising sophomores and juniors in core subjects during a 6-week summer academy. Responsibilities include curriculum development and student engagement. The role requires a licensed teacher in NC and a commitment to student success.
The UNC Upward Bound Program is a Federal TRiO Program funded to help Scholars build the skills and motivation necessary to pursue and succeed in college and attain a Bachelor's Degree. Each summer, the program offers Scholars a comprehensive, 6-week academy that provides academic enrichment, professional development, and personal growth opportunities. Upward Bound Scholars engage in Math, Science, English, Spanish, and History courses.
Academic Instructors are responsible for teaching Upward Bound's rising sophomores and juniors from Chatham, Durham, and Lee counties on special topics in core classes including Math, English (Rhetoric and Composition), Science, History, and Spanish. They will work closely with the Upward Bound team to develop curriculum and ensure student success. The program runs from June 21, 2025, to August 1, 2025, with evaluations due by August 8, 2025.
