Job summary

Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin, Inc. is seeking a Janitor/Cleaner to maintain a clean, safe store environment and support excellent customer service. You will help create a welcoming atmosphere for shoppers and donors while adhering to company safety and 5S guidelines.

The role involves routine cleaning tasks, restocking supplies, and assisting with donation processing as needed. Flexibility and reliability are valued in this hands-on position at our Madison location.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate and maintain cleaning equipment (floor scrubber, vacuum, broom, mop).
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills to greet shoppers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Cleans all floors including under garment racks.
• Cleans restrooms and surfaces.
• Greet customers and donors; encourage return visits.
• Stock restroom supplies and perform touch-ups during shift.
• Remove debris, hangers, and product from store areas.
• Collects and empties trash in public, restrooms, breakrooms, and offices.
• Clean and polish drinking fountains; wipe microwaves and tables in breakroom.
• Clean dressing rooms; mirror and bench areas; baseboards and floors.
• Dusts ledges, tops of fitting rooms, and under racks.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and notify management when low.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment following 5S and safety guidelines.
• Assist with donations processing or HL product as assigned.
• Interact professionally with coworkers, shoppers, and donors; uphold core values.

General Summary:

The Janitor/Cleaner maximizes store profitability by maintaining a clean and safe store environment, along with supporting best in class customer service. This role helps us to build skills and change lives in each of our communities.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Cleans all floors, including under garment racks, using a broom, mop, vacuum, &/or floor scrubber
• Cleans restrooms: mirrors, counters, toilets and floors, spot cleaning walls, and wiping all handles
• Provide best in class service by greeting customers/donors and inviting them to return
• Stocks restroom supplies and revisits throughout their shift to complete touch-ups, as needed
• Routinely picks up debris, hangers, and product inside and outside store
• Collects and empties trash from public areas, restrooms, breakrooms, and offices
• Cleans & polishes drinking fountains, wipes down microwave and tables in breakroom
• Cleans dressing rooms: mirrors, benches, baseboards, and floors
• Routinely dusts all ledges, tops of fitting rooms, and underneath H-Racks
• Informs management of cleaning supplies level on hand & alerting them more needs to be purchased
• Maintain neat, clean and safe environment by following established 5S principles and safety guidelines
• Works the process providing back-up to take in donations or putting out HL product, as assigned
• Consistently interacting with co-workers, shoppers, and donors in a professional & pleasant manner
• Consistently perform all duties within the framework of our Core Values
