Job summary

City and County of Denver seeks a Utility Worker II to support the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. You will perform labor on construction, maintenance, and repair projects, operate equipment after obtaining a CDL, and assist with safety tasks on a crew.

Incumbents should have basic construction knowledge, driving experience, and be willing to work in challenging weather and road environments while pursuing career growth within the department.

Qualifications

• Experience performing unskilled labor and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Valid Driver's License required at time of application.
• CDL "B" with appropriate endorsements within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Work on a Heavy Construction Signals team or a Signs and Markings team.
• Perform semi-skilled to heavy labor on construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
• Operate light to heavy equipment after CDL is obtained.
• Assist with safety and related tasks on a crew with Equipment Operators.
• Cross-train with Signal Techs and Equipment Operators.
• Place barricades, cones and safety devices per traffic regulations.
• Participate in snow removal duties.

• Work on a Heavy Construction Signals team or a Signs and Markings team
• Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects
• Operation of light weight motorized equipment and hand and power tools
• Assist with general labor, safety, and related work tasks on a crew with Equipment Operators
• Cross Train with Signal Techs and Equipment Operators
• Operate equipment such as box truck, auger truck, dump trucks, Mini Excavators and other heavy equipment after CDL is obtained
• Place and remove barricades, cones, and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirements
• Participate in snow removal duties

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Education Requirement: None
• Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience performing unskilled labor work.
• Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement
• License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
• Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL "B") with appropriate endorsements within six (6) months of employment and must be kept current as a condition of employment.
• By position, requires a CDL Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of hire.
• Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
