City of St. Helens is hiring a full-time Utility Worker I to join our Public Works team in Saint Helens, Oregon. The role focuses on maintaining essential water, sewer, street, and storm drainage infrastructure with a commitment to safety and reliability.

Starting pay is $4,127 per month, plus excellent benefits including health/vision/dental, retirement, holidays, vacation, sick leave, and wellness allowances. CDL eligibility is required or obtainable, and normal workdays are Monday to Friday.

This position offers competitive starting pay beginning at $4,127 per month, complemented by excellent benefits, including:

As a Utility Worker I, your primary responsibility is maintaining and repairing vital infrastructure such as water, sewer, street, and storm drainage systems. You conduct routine inspections, promptly respond to service requests, and collaborate effectively with team members to ensure operational excellence. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Documented high school diploma or GED (must be verifiable)
• Valid state driver's license
• CDL certification (or the ability to obtain one)
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Skill in operating relevant tools and equipment
• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the public
• Basic knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities

WORK SCHEDULE/LOCATION

Work Schedule: Enjoy a stable Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a half-hour unpaid lunch break from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. Seasonal modified schedule depending on weather conditions.
