City of Alvin seeks a Maintenance Worker to operate light and heavy equipment in the maintenance of water distribution and wastewater systems. The role works under direct supervision and must follow detailed instructions to meet prescribed standards and procedures.
Responsibilities include operating equipment and tools, adhering to safety rules, and reporting to the Crew Leader II or Utility Service Worker II/III. CDL must be obtained within 180 days of employment.
Under direct supervision, operates light and heavy equipment and various hand tools in the maintenance and construction of water distribution and wastewater collection systems. The incumbent must be able to perform duties according to detailed instructions with adherence to prescribed standards and procedures. Performs related work as required. Reports to the Crew Leader II. Reports to Utility Service Worker II or III.
Requires a high school diploma or GED supplemented by vocational training or coursework in mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing maintenance and repairs, and up to two years of experience or training in water production and distribution operations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain CDL within 180 days of employment.
Starting at $18.88/ hour.
