Job Description

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring a Utility Worker.

Position type: Full-time - Contract
Duration: 12+ Months
Location: San Antonio, Texas 78210

As a Utility Worker, you will:

• Set up barricades and traffic cones. Act as flagman to direct traffic as needed. Break ground or pavement where necessary using a jackhammer or other prescribed methods.
• Digs trenches using a shovel or other methods as conditions prescribe. Tamps and backfills trenches.
• Perform similar work as required to satisfactorily complete assigned tasks.
• Be available for call duty, including holidays, nights, and weekends, and be able to work unscheduled overtime when needed.
• Have a working knowledge of the use, care, and safe handling of tools, equipment, and materials commonly used in the trade.
• Observe and report equipment status.
• Understand inspection methods and techniques for compliance with regulations and applicable codes.
• Work independently and prioritize tasks to meet the needs of the unit and its customers.
• Operate equipment required for the installation of electrical and gas lines, including backhoes, trenching machines, dump trucks, boring machines, and air compressors.
• Assist in the construction of duct banks, manholes, natural gas mains, and distribution lines.
• Assist Journeymen as needed to complete the job.
• Use equipment in a manner that subjects it to normal wear and tear only.
• Assist in the installation of customer electrical and natural gas services.
• Perform job duties in a safety-conscious manner that reflects safety in work habits.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to dig, spread, and level dirt, gravel, and sand.
• Load and unload materials from company truck by hand or with an assisting device such as a forklift.
• Perform a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, e.g., demolishing structures, dismantling forms, cutting insulation material, and removing concrete.
• Transport needed tools, equipment, and materials to/from and around the work site.
• Clean tools, equipment, materials, and specified work areas as needed.
• Follow specific work orders as given by a skilled worker or foreman.
• Work in confined spaces such as manholes and vaults.

PAY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range: $18/hr. - $19.50/hr.
