Job summary

Bayer is seeking a Utility Worker for the 2nd shift in Myerstown, PA. You will clean machines and areas, manage waste, and support packaging lines in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, cGMPs, and safety rules, operating cleaning equipment, and maintaining supplies. Strong teamwork and reliable shift handovers are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to perform physical cleaning and material handling work.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, SOPs, cGMPs, safety requirements, and PPE requirements.
• Ability to safely use basic hand tools, cleaning equipment, and cleaning supplies.

Responsibilities

• Clean machines, machine parts, and department areas of foreign material; assist with materials of transport within the facility.
• Follow safety, ergonomic requirements, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, cGMPs, OSHA requirements and SOPs.
• Use cleaning equipment and tools, including floor scrubbers, ultrasonic baths and bin washers.
• Clean departmental machines and parts; sweep, scrub, and wet-mop floors.
• Dispose of hazardous waste daily and document disposal as required by cGMPs.
• Assist packaging and manufacturing line teams, including hand packing and sorting.
• Perform cleaning tasks during plant shutdown periods and take trash to the compactor.

Utility Worker - 2nd shift ( 3:00 PM – 11:20 PM)

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean machines, machine parts, and department areas of all foreign material; perform facility cleaning and assist with materials of transport within the facility.

Ensure a safe work environment by following safety and ergonomic requirements, applicable PPE requirements, Lockout/Tagout, cGMPs, OSHA requirements, Company Guidelines, and SOPs applicable to the process or work area.

Use basic hand tools, cleaning equipment (including floor scrubbers, ultrasonic baths, bin washers, and related equipment), and cleaning supplies.

Clean departmental machines and machine parts of foreign material, including operating bin washers.

Clear floors of skids, waste containers, and similar materials; sweep, scrub, and wet-mop floors.

Dust walls; clean windows, water coolers, and sinks; strip and wax floors.

Complete facility cleaning according to schedules and SOPs.

Take trash to the compactor.

Dispose of hazardous waste daily and document disposal as required by cGMPs.

Fill store requisitions; order and maintain supplies for department inventory.

Foster a team-oriented culture by motivating and supporting colleagues and sharing knowledge to continuously improve departmental processes.

Assist packaging and manufacturing line teams as needed, including hand packing, sorting, and pack-outs.

Perform cleaning tasks during plant shutdown periods as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required

Ability to perform physical cleaning and material handling work in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, SOPs, cGMPs, safety requirements, and PPE requirements.

Ability to safely use basic hand tools, cleaning equipment, and cleaning supplies.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate clearly during shift handovers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a pharmaceutical, food, chemical, or other regulated manufacturing environment.

Prior experience with industrial cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers, ultrasonic baths, or bin washers.

Forklift experience or certification.

Familiarity with hazardous waste handling, Lockout/Tagout, cGMPs, and OSHA requirements.

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate between $21.74-$32.61. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
