Job summary

American Wheatley is seeking a general labor associate for our welding shop. You will assist certified welders, operate rolling and cutting machinery, grind and blend welds, move materials with a forklift, and support hydro testing and painting/coating of products.

Responsibilities include completing documentation, maintaining tools, and performing shop floor quality inspections while adhering to safety policies and 5S standards. This is a hands-on, onsite role with varied shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and work instructions.
• Familiarity with PPE and safety procedures.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operate rolling and cutting machinery and grind/blend welds.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for safely performing general labor tasks inside a welding shop. Responsibilities may include duties such as operating rolling and cutting machinery, grinding and blending welds, material movement, assisting welders, forklift operation, maintaining tools and equipment, testing and coating of semi‑finished products and assisting with hydro testing. The position will include other duties as assigned by the shop supervisor.

Shift Hours

Monday - Thursday 6a - 4:30p , Friday 6a - 3:30p , Saturday as needed 6a - 11a

Requirements

• Assisting certified welders
• Cleaning and preparation of components and materials
• Operation of metal forming and cutting machinery
• Assembly and Hydro testing of products
• Painting or coating of products
• Use of common hand tools including grinders
• Use of common measurement tools
• Completing documentation of manufacturing processes
• Moving materials, finished, and semi-finished goods with forklift
• Assist with shop floor quality inspections
• Follow company policies.

Education And Experience

• High school Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Familiarity understanding blueprints and work instructions
• Use of common hand tools including grinders, cutting tools, and impact wrenches
• Ability to read a tape measure, level, and squares
• Ability to safely operate forklift, pallet jacks, and overhead cranes
