Position Overview:

The Utility Associate helps by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc., using machine and manual cleaning methods. This position also ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe, and sanitary.

Responsibilities:

1. Supports the mission, core values and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.
2. Completes all hours of state mandated continuing education each year.
3. Promotes and displays a spirit of teamwork in performance of daily duties through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
4. Supports a positive and professional image through actions and dress.
5. Promotes the property in a positive manner and effectively communicates the organization’s values to residents, visitors, co-workers, and the community.
6. Assists in clearing and resetting counters or tables at conclusion of each course.
7. Delivers prompt and courteous service.
8. Runs dishwashing machine. Sets up or breaks down dishwashing area.
9. Maintains infection control standards, updates, and inspects sanitizer and dish machine temperature logs.
10. Cleans dishes, kitchen, food preparation equipment, or utensils. Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, or pans, using dishwasher or by hand.
11. Places clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas.
12. Sorts and stacks clean dishes. Carries clean dishes to cook’s line and other proper storage areas.
13. Change dishwater in dish machine every two hours, or before washing glasses or tableware.
14. Washes pots, pans, and trays by hand.
15. Wash work area, refrigerator, cooking equipment and walls.
16. Wipes up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.
17. Sweeps/mops floors. Cleans and rolls/unrolls mats.
18. Empty garbage cans and take to dumpster.
19. Attends and participates in required meetings and training.
20. Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Maintains current Food Handler’s card.
3. Meets all mandatory health requirements by State regulations.
4. Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
5. Relates positively and communicates appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other employees.
6. Has compassion and a special interest in working with the senior population.
7. Ability to work independently (with minimum supervision).
8. Must have a strong understanding of the English language, sufficient to speak, read and write.
