Job Opportunity: Utility Technician I/II/III/IV

We are currently recruiting qualified applicants for the Utility Technician I/II/III/IV position. Come and see why the City of Golden is the place you want to be!

Performs activities and equipment operation in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of city water and sewer facilities and systems. On–call assignments are required.

Positions:

  • Utility Technician I: Entry level position.
  • Utility Technician II: Journey level position.
  • Utility Technician III: Journey level position.
  • Utility Technician IV: Senior level position.

Responsibilities include inspecting, repairing, and conducting preventative maintenance on water and sewer facilities, responding to customer inquiries, locating utilities, performing construction activities, and more. Additional duties vary by level, including acting as crew lead or ORC, supervising activities, and traffic control.

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience requirements vary by level, from preferred water/wastewater experience at Technician I, to 5+ years at Technician IV.

Certificates and licenses: Valid Class A or B CDL, and Colorado Wastewater and Water Distribution Certificates at appropriate levels. Additional safety and traffic control certifications required for higher levels.

Skills and physical demands: Ability to read maps, interpret blueprints, perform heavy manual tasks, and work in various environmental conditions. Must meet physical requirements and safety standards.
