Job description

Job Responsibilities

1. Promote a safe working environment and adhere to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries.
2. Verify daily that all resins and colorants for each production line match the PIC sheet and document on the Production OEE form.
3. Complete daily scrap reports detailing resin, colorant usage, regrind, and scrap generation.
4. Ensure regrind is used on all lines, maintaining proper levels (no more than 1 excess Gaylord per machine).
5. Set up blenders, calibrate, and change material formulas as needed.
6. Evaluate colorant usage, perform visual checks, and verify no overuse occurs.
7. Calculate usage and prepare color standards (LTD) per customer standards or target ratios on the PIC sheet.
8. Transport materials and scan regrind, colorants, etc., to and from the warehouse.
9. Perform line clearances after production, cleaning material systems.
10. Ensure all used gaylords on the production floor are properly defaced of original signage.
11. Maintain cleanliness around grinders, blenders, and day bins.
12. Communicate regrind percentage changes and excess accumulation to operators.
13. Check cyclone dust collection bags, empty, and clean as needed (not exceeding 20 lbs of dust).
14. Clean vacuum pump filters daily.
15. Operate railcar unloading systems following proper procedures.
16. Prevent resin spills on ground or around railcars; cleanup immediately if spills occur.
17. Identify, weigh, and dispose of material chunks properly per line.
18. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors, such as cleaning or rework.
19. Communicate upcoming activities and changes to the on-coming shift.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or GED

Skills: Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb, stoop, bend, and carry heavy loads frequently; mechanical aptitude is a plus.
