Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on facility equipment and building systems.
  • Complete equipment inspections and document findings.
  • Replace filters, belts, light fixtures, batteries, and other routine wear items.
  • Assist skilled maintenance technicians with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting under supervision.
  • Complete general facility repairs including doors, hardware, ceilings, fixtures, and finishes.
  • Assist with equipment moves and material handling.
  • Keep mechanical rooms and work areas clean.
  • Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Document completed work in CMMS.
  • Follow OSHA, environmental, and site safety procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a positive team attitude.

Position Summary

Utility Technicians provide essential support to the maintenance team by performing routine maintenance tasks, preventive maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and general facility support while developing the skills necessary to advance into higher-level maintenance positions.

Successful candidates possess a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance activities on facility equipment and building systems.
  • Complete equipment inspections and document findings.
  • Replace filters, belts, light fixtures, batteries, and other routine wear items.
  • Assist skilled maintenance technicians with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of facility equipment under supervision.
  • Complete general facility repairs including doors, hardware, ceiling tiles, furniture, fixtures, and building finishes.
  • Assist with equipment moves, material handling, and facility setup activities.
  • Maintain clean mechanical rooms, maintenance shops, and work areas.
  • Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Accurately document completed work within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Follow all OSHA, environmental, and site safety procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a positive team-oriented attitude.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the desire to learn industrial maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-3 years of maintenance, construction, manufacturing, facilities, automotive, or skilled trades experience.
  • Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, or other powered industrial equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs or CMMS software.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
