Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Council Bluffs, IA is seeking a casual Dishwasher to support our hospital cafeteria. Location: Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, 933 E Pierce St.

This position works 7am to 3:30pm as needed, typically 2 to 3 days a week, with weekend availability required. Responsibilities include washing dishes, storing clean items, maintaining a sanitary kitchen, following food handling procedures, and operating dishwashing equipment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: 6 months previous dishwasher experience preferred.
• Skills: Knowledge of dishwashing techniques preferred; basic math and strong verbal communication required.

Responsibilities

• Washes dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans by using dishwashers or washing by hand to ensure all equipment is clean and sanitary for use.
• Places clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas by following departmental policies and procedures to ensure equipment is available when needed.
• Maintains kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils by organizing and cleaning the dish area and pot area to ensure a safe, clean, and sanitary environment.
• Follows proper food handling procedures and complies with quality performance standards to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
• Operates food service equipment by following manufacturer and department procedures to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment is maintained.

Work Schedule: 7am to 3:30pm as needed with weekend availability required. This position typically works 2 to 3 days a week. This is a casual position. Casual employees work on an ‘as needed’ basis to meet the needs of the business. Workdays/hours will often vary from week to week.

• Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Knowledge of dishwashing techniques preferred. Basic math skills required. Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers required. Able to read, write, and comprehend various written reports and documents required.
