Job summary

Navajo Tribal Utility Authority is seeking a qualified engineer to support the design, construction, and operation of Electric, Gas, Water/Wastewater, or Renewable systems. The role includes project management, contract documentation, and collaboration with diverse partners.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant engineering degree, 2-5 years in utilities and computer systems, and proficiency with MS Office. EIT/PE is desirable; a valid driver's license is required, with Navajo Preference applied.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 2-3 years in utility operations (electric, gas, water/wastewater, or renewable).
  • 3-5 years in computer systems.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • EIT with current registration or PE is desirable.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Support design, construction, operation and maintenance of electric, gas, water/wastewater, or renewable systems.
  • Develop construction plans, specs, cost analyses, and contract docs.
  • Collaborate with contractors, consultants, developers, architects and agencies.
  • Perform project management and construction supervision for capital, O&M and emergency projects.
  • Prepare engineering studies, reports and plans.
  • Maintain system operations data files.
  • Review reports and designs by outside agencies.
  • Respond to district requests and regulatory inquiries; address maintenance issues.
  • Monitor compliance; prepare remedial action plans and updates.
  • Conduct technical research to solve engineering problems for the utility.
  • Participate in public meetings and address inquiries and complaints.
  • Establish standards for transmission, distribution and upgrades.
  • Assist in annual Capital and O&M budgets; track funds and status.
  • Identify outside funding sources and complete funding applications.

Experience in Electric/Gas/Water/Renew
Experience in Computer Systems
Valid Driver's License
EIT/PE desired

Education

Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Natural Gas Engineering, Renewable Engineering
