Job summary

Century Furniture LLC in Hickory, NC is seeking a Materials Handler for the Upholstery Department. You will unload, transfer, and store materials such as deck pads, tack bands, poly, staples, and Dacron, and supply upholsterers with necessary items.

Ensure storage areas stay neat, assist with inventory, sort recyclables, and perform duties safely under supervision. Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Great communication skills.
• Previous warehouse experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Summary Job Description:This position is responsible for the various tasks associated with the materials used in the Upholstery Department.Essential Duties:Unload, transfer and store materials used in the Upholstery Department, including: deck pads, tack bands, poly, staples, Dacron, etc.Supply all Inside and/or Outside Upholsterers with supplies.Sort recyclable material into appropriate areas.Maintain supply storage areas and bins in a neat and organized manner.Help maintain inventory on supplies and notify supervisor is supplies run low.Assist with making buttons and other necessary items.Keep floors swept, clean, and supplies put in appropriate areas.Cut down cardboard boxes if needed and remove to dumpster.Carry out any additional job duties assigned by department manager.Work safely at all times and report any unsafe conditions or practices to the SupervisorPosition Requirements:high School diploma or GED preferredGreat communication skillsPrevious experience is a plusPhysical Requirements:The physical demands and work environment expectations described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
