Job summary

The Scott Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a dedicated Utility Steward to help keep dishware and kitchen areas clean and organized. You will support Chefs and assist with food prep tasks as needed, ensuring compliance with health standards and safe handling of kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities include cleaning all kitchen items daily, maintaining stewarding areas, and aiding in the service of functions.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Previous Dishwasher/Steward or culinary experience preferred.
• Certificates or Licenses: Maricopa County food service worker card.
• Ability to perform duties in varying kitchen temperatures.
• Ability to lift, reach, and stand for long periods in a kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Clean all plate ware, flatware, pots, pans, glassware, baking equipment, utensils, and silverware daily according to procedures.
• Maintain stewarding areas floors by sweeping and mopping as needed.
• Keep equipment clean and in working order, complying with health regulations.
• Assist with food prep tasks and actual service for functions when needed.
• Receive and store food orders; organize culinary shelves with rotation and freshness.
• Maintain general kitchen organization and assist Chefs as required.

Job description

Summary of Position

The Utility Steward is responsible for keeping all cleanable items clean and maintaining the cleanliness of the work areas including banquets kitchen, restaurant kitchen, loading dock and stewarding areas. This Utility role will also provide organizational support to the Chefs and assist with food prep related tasks, as needed.

Essential Functions

Clean all plate ware, flatware, pots, pans, glassware, baking equipment, utensils, and silverware are cleaned on a daily basis according to specific operating procedures.

Maintain floors in stewarding area by sweeping and mopping as needed or requested.

Maintain floor drains.

Keep all equipment operating effectively by ensuring it is clean and in good working order, complying with health department regulations.

Maintain cleanliness of equipment such as fryers, broilers, slicers, and conveyor line belts.

Prepare and assist in actual service of functions as needed.

Assist in transportation of all off property functions, transporting dishes to hot boxes.

Clean kettles, tilt skillets, pots, and pans promptly and completely to allow cooks to complete their job functions.

Receive and put away food orders.

Organize culinary shelves with special attention to rotation and freshness.

Maintain general kitchen organization, including storage and walk-ins.

Assist Chefs with food prep related tasks, as needed.

Additional supportive responsibilities and functions as determined by the Chefs or department supervisor.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to perform duties within varying temperatures of the kitchens.

Ability to safely use strong kitchen cleaning products in order to perform the essential functions.

Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry or otherwise push goods on a cart (max. weight up to 200 lbs.) and to use all equipment; i.e., knives, spoons, spatulas, to perform all essential functions.

Ability to reach, lift, stoop, and stand on a continuous basis in order to perform the essential functions.

Ability to operate and clean all kitchen equipment.

Basic mathematical skills necessary to provide requisitions as needed or specified by a supervisor.

Ability to lift and transport heavy equipment.

Ability to memorize and perform Resort Standards, AAA Diamond standards, and company's Service Essentials.
