Job summary

American Leather Operations LLC in Conover, NC is seeking a Utility Sewer to join the Sewing department on a full-time basis. The role focuses on sewing upholstery with a variety of styles, reading production tickets, and delivering high-quality workmanship.

The position supports a Mon–Thu schedule from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm with overtime as needed, offering 40–45 hour weeks and a comprehensive benefits package including an onsite healthcare clinic from day one, two company-wide shutdown weeks

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of furniture sewing experience.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Must be flexible to overtime when required.
• Able to lift, handle, and carry 25+ lbs.

Responsibilities

• Sew various upholstery styles (Topstitch, French Seam, Zig-zag, Cable Stitch) per specs.
• Work with complex fabric and ensure quality and accuracy.
• Review tickets and specifications to maximize efficiency.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB TITLE: Utility Sewer

DEPARTMENT: Sewing

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SCHEDULE: Mon – Thurs 6:00 am – 4:30 pm

Overtime may be required beyond the posted work schedule and may vary on a weekly basis.

Overview of Responsibilities

• Must have sewing skills to sew various types of sewing styles including Topstitch, French Seam, Zig-zag, Cable Stitch, Surge, repairs of inside & outside upholstery parts & pieces according to production specifications
• Work with complex fabric
• Comprehend tickets and specifications to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of furniture sewing experience
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Basic computer knowledge
• Ability to deliver uncompromising quality and detailed craftsmanship
• Must be flexible to work overtime when required
• Able to work independently
• Must be able to lift, handle, and carry 25+ lbs.
