General Summary
Utility/Prep Cook Associates participate in providing a total quality dining service program. This includes thorough cleaning of dishware, flatware, pots, pans, cooking utensils, equipment, and facilities to meet sanitation standards. Utility Associates may also perform a variety of food preparation duties such as preparing cold foods and shellfish, slicing meat, prepping salads, desserts, hot food prep, and brewing coffee or tea.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform general duties including cleaning, mopping, sweeping, garbage removal, and dusting kitchen and dining areas, as well as food prep as assigned.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils to ensure cleanliness standards.
- Clean the dishwasher machine inside and out after each shift.
- Maintain a neat appearance of work areas and cleaning equipment storage areas.
- Clean floor drains as scheduled and as needed.
- Report to the Cook or Executive Chef regarding equipment and supplies needed.
- Ensure proper use of equipment and supplies, upholding cleaning and safety standards.
- Be in company uniform and resident-ready at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Experience in professional food service preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Stand or walk for 75% of the day.
- Concentrate amid interruptions.
- Work under stress and in emergency situations.
- Perform tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, and grasping.
- Talk and hear effectively for communication.
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
Occupational Exposure / PPE
- Work in all community areas.
- Exposure to dust, disinfectants, cleaning chemicals, infectious waste, and other hazards.
- Use personal protective equipment such as gloves, aprons, hair nets, non-slip shoes, and hot pads as required.
- Follow safety policies and procedures.
