What You Can Expect

As a Utility Plant Operator I (UPO I) at our University of Iowa location, you will operate power generation equipment safely and efficiently, including pumps, air compressors, conveying systems, fans, electric motors, and control valves. Your daily tasks include monitoring equipment, conducting rounds, performing housekeeping, and assisting with maintenance. You will communicate with team members via Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Maximo, and support other roles as needed. The position involves rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with availability for overtime and emergency coverage.

What You'll Bring
  • High School Degree or GED
  • At least 2 years of experience operating boilers, pumps, fans, conveyors, or similar equipment in an industrial or process plant setting
Additional Details
  • Attendance at the worksite daily
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Willingness to comply with ENGIE safety and ethics policies
  • On-call availability, personal phone for emergency notifications
  • Physical ability to hear alarms, perform physical tasks, work in confined spaces, and wear PPE
  • Work environment includes outdoor conditions, heat, dust, and noise
Compensation

Hourly salary range: $22.36 - $32.73. Salary may vary based on experience, location, and other factors. The role is eligible for bonuses and benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
