Martin Marietta is seeking a safety-conscious Utility Person for our North Garden, VA site. You will perform cross-functional duties in maintenance, production, and equipment operation, including lubrication and housekeeping, with responsibility for basic records and reports.

The role requires dependable, motivated individuals with a high school diploma (or GED). Hours are 7AM–5PM; weekends as needed, with a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe housekeeping and traffic flow on site.

This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation. The utility person is responsible for greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, operating equipment, and performing routine maintenance on plant and equipment.

North Garden, VA

Hours: 7AM - 5PM, weekends as necessary

A Typical Day For A(n) Utility Person May Include

• Performing preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under the guidance of the plant manager or other designated personnel
• Performing daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintains maintenance log
• Using a hand shovel and operates a skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking areas
• Operating a water truck to limit airborne dust
• Participating in plant operations including production, loading and shipping, and quality control
• Maintaining good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the site
• Operating plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as needed
• Administering site specific training to visitors and ensures site guidelines are followed
• Directing customers to the appropriate areas of the site
• Maintaining accurate records of aggregate tonnage and sales activities on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and prepares basic reports
• Maintaining professionalism in all situations in the workplace and when working with customers
• Aiding in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Have experience in the building materials industry (preferred)

We are excited to share the base range for this position is $23.69 - $27.28, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
