Job description

With more than one million tons of structural steel fabricated over the past 20 years, High Steel is proud of the quality reputation we've earned as the steel fabricator of choice for North America's transportation infrastructure projects.

We currently have an opening for a Utility Operator - Yard/Warehouse, on 1st-shift.

Utility Operators are responsible for performing a wide variety of yard material handling duties throughout the yard/warehouse areas, assigned to meet the workload requirements and as a replacement for regular operators. The utility operators are required to fill in as a backup to the Leadperson or Assistant Supervisor.

Areas of responsibility for Utility Operators:
  1. Operating a tow motor to move materials in the warehouse and outdoors, in all Yard operations.
  2. Entering receiving information and updating paint inventory daily into SAP system and keeping daily inventory of all shop supplies.
  3. Communicating effectively daily with the Purchasing department, delivery drivers, and internal/external customers.
  4. Moving, sorting, counting, and arranging material including studs, component parts, finished goods, fuels, etc.
  5. Running errands, locating missing parts and supplies, and performing related duties to assist in maintaining a smooth and uninterrupted flow of material within the Warehouse.
Our next team member will possess the following qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a yard/warehouse environment, including operating tow motors outdoors in all weather conditions
  3. A valid PA driver's license is required
  4. Demonstrated experience operating tow motors and/or forklifts
  5. Mijack certification and CDL preferred, or the willingness and ability to obtain these certifications
  6. The ability to read blueprints is required
  7. Basic computer skills including email, SAP, and the UPS app for shipping
