Job summary

Aqua Engineers, Inc. is seeking a dedicated operator for the collection system in Hawaii. You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of sewer lines, ensuring safe and effective handling of emergencies.

The ideal candidate will need a valid CDL-B, ability to perform under various conditions, and willingness to work on-call. This role includes a pay range of $29.10 - $34.87 per hour, with an annual incentive bonus potential of 10% of base pay.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid Hawaii Driver’s License with CDL-B and no restrictions.
  • Possession of medical examination certificate from the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain sewer lines, pump stations, and related equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies as required.
  • Perform on-call responsibilities and follow appropriate safety rules.

Job description

On the job training will be provided.

Responsible for operating and maintaining the collection system - cleaning, maintaining and repairing sewer lines, pump stations, wet wells, septic tanks, interceptors, manholes, and related equipment and responding to emergencies as required.

Description Of Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for performing the operation and maintenance of the collection system.
  • Responsible for the operation and general maintenance of collection systems specialty equipment, tools, and vehicles.

Professional & Technical Knowledge
  • Possesses a basic level of written and verbal communication skills, computational and computer skills and mathematical knowledge typically acquired through completion of a high school program.
  • Possesses knowledge of basic occupation hazards and safety principles.
  • Possesses specific knowledge and training in operation of equipment and mechanical systems used during the work process.
  • Possesses basic understanding of disposal regulations sufficient to determine proper disposal site.
Technical Skills
  • Possess aptitude in the use of mechanical, electrical, and hand tools.
  • Has the ability to use sewer maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Has the ability to read and interpret location maps and process diagrams.
  • Has the ability to review basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Possesses - or has the ability to obtain through on the job training - a valid Hawaii Driver’s License with CDL-B, tanker endorsement, air brakes, and no restrictions.
  • Possesses a valid State of Hawaii Department of Transportation medical examination certificate.
Communications Skills
  • Exercises tact and diplomacy in the resolution of mild conflicts or disagreements.
  • Effectively conveys technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Effectively communicates information in written (including electronic) correspondence.
Physical Demands
  • Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties.
  • Is able to be exposed to hazardous, unsanitary and unpleasant conditions.
  • Is able to work shift, weekend, and holiday schedules.
  • Is required to respond to emergency call outs.
  • Has the ability to perform heavy lifting (50#) and other manual work under adverse conditions.
Pay Range

$29.10 - $34.87 per hour

An annual incentive bonus with an earning potential of 10% of base pay.
