Job summary

RDR Utility Services Group is seeking Utility Operators experienced in sewer and water line installation, repair and maintenance, with expertise in HDPE, PVC, and Ductile Iron piping.

You will operate heavy equipment, install systems per project plans, perform trenching and backfilling, and set manholes and hydrants. Maintain safety, read blueprints, and comply with OSHA policies; travel as required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of underground utility construction experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, grades and construction plans.
• Willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, and backhoes.
• Install storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water distribution systems per plans.
• Perform excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling operations.
• Set manholes, catch basins, inlets, valves, hydrants, and related structures.
• Work safely around existing utilities and follow locating requirements.
• Ensure trench safety with shoring, sloping, and trench box installation.
• Assist with pipe laying, laser setup, grade checking, and utility testing.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and maintain a clean, safe job site.

RDR is seeking Utility Operators with experience in sewer and water line installation, repair and maintenance, specializing in HDPE, PVC, and Ductile Iron Piping.

Job Summary:

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, and backhoes.
• Install storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water distribution systems according to project plans and specifications.
• Perform excavation, trenching, grading, and backfilling operations.
• Set manholes, catch basins, inlets, valves, hydrants, and related utility structures.
• Work safely around existing underground utilities and follow utility locating requirements.
• Ensure proper trench safety practices, including shoring, sloping, and trench box installation.
• Assist with pipe laying, laser setup, grade checking, and utility testing.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and routine maintenance.
• Maintain a clean and safe job site while complying with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.

Qualifications:

• Reporting directly to their RDR supervisor.
• Willingness to travel.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in underground utility construction.
• Experience installing storm drainage, water mains, and sanitary sewer systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, grades, and construction plans.
• Experience working around existing utilities and interpreting utility locates.
• Use hand tools to dig around existing utility structures to prevent damage.
• Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Physical endurance to stand for long periods of time as well as walk, squat, crouch.
• Able to work up to and at times greater than 12-hour days.
