About the role
Utility Operator
Position Summary
As a Utility Operator, you will be responsible for performing a variety of operational tasks safely and efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic industrial environment to support Reworld's industrial processing and disposal operations. This role requires the ability to operate various types of mobile equipment, support facility operations, manage waste handling activities, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with operational and environmental standards. Utility Operators work across multiple areas of the facility and support both day shift and rotating shift operations.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring equipment is appropriately fueled and charged for effective operation.
- Load and manage ash using various types of industrial equipment.
- Supervise and observe delivery trucks hauling materials to the tipping floor.
- Safely operate front-end loaders and other mobile equipment to manage refuse and materials delivered for processing.
- Inspect incoming refuse, waste, and materials and determine the appropriate process for handling and disposal.
- Monitor and control inbound and outbound traffic for delivery trucks.
- Perform BMW (Biomedical Waste) load inspections, offloading, storage, and handling activities in accordance with facility procedures.
- Complete operational preventative maintenance (PM) tasks on BMW handling equipment.
- Support safe, compliant, and efficient facility operations through additional duties as assigned.
Day Shift Responsibilities
- Perform facility and grounds housekeeping activities.
- Conduct mobile equipment inspections and report deficiencies.
- Provide tipping floor coverage and operational support.
- Support ash building loadout operations.
- Offload special waste materials as directed.
- Sweep and maintain facility grounds and operational areas.
- Assist with general housekeeping activities to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Rotating Shift Responsibilities
- Conduct routine rounds and inspections of residue handling equipment.
- Perform daily cleaning and greasing of residue handling equipment.
- Assist with plant projects and maintenance activities.
- Support operations during process upsets and abnormal conditions.
- Troubleshoot residue handling equipment issues and elevate concerns as needed.
- Sweep facility roadways and maintain assigned operating areas.
- Assist operations personnel in maintaining continuous plant performance and reliability.

Position Requirements & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience operating mobile or industrial equipment is preferred.
- Ability to work safely in an industrial environment and follow all safety procedures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Schedule
- Day Shift:
- Monday through Friday
- 6:20 AM to 2:50 PM
- Rotating Shift:
- 2 Days On / 2 Days Off / 5 Days On / 5 Days Off
- 6:20 AM to 6:20 PM
- Rotation includes both day and night shifts
