Job description

Starting pay range is $23.79 – $26.23 an hour (plus on-call pay) per the AFSCME 1386A Working Agreement. Detailed information about the AFSCME 1386A Working Agreement including salary schedule and benefits can be found here: https://www.cityofportsmouth.com/hr/employment-contracts

Individuals in this position fulfill one or more of the operational work objectives of maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and constructing City buildings and property, water distribution and wastewater collection facilities, storm drain systems, and street-related facilities or controls requiring the application of specialized skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electricity, masonry, automotive, painting, utility line inspection, and other general trades. Employees in this position are expected to understand project or task objectives, identify, and execute the appropriate tasks, use tools correctly, and successfully complete assigned work with minimal instruction. Work is performed individually or as part of a larger work unit, may involve supervision of others, and requires good judgment. Supervision is varied.
