Job summary

The City of Norfolk, VA is seeking a qualified Utility Maintenance Mechanic III within the Water Production Division to perform electrical and mechanical repairs, installations, diagnosis and preventive maintenance on water system equipment.

Responsibilities include servicing air cooled compressors, routine maintenance, valve operations, and support for pump stations; requires five years of Industrial Maintenance Mechanic or Electrician experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Experience as Industrial Maintenance Mechanic or Electrician (5+ years).
• Valid Driver's License.
• Journeyman Electrical License may be required depending upon assignment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains equipment by conducting major repairs to air cooled compressors and related equipment.
• Performs daily maintenance and minor repairs on frequently used equipment.
• Performs winter maintenance and minor electric work for building maintenance; operates valves to manage water flow at plants; conducts PM at pump stations.
• Supervises and oversees repair shop and pump stations in absence of supervisor; handles work orders and assigns tasks.
