Job summary

City of Rifle is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to service water and wastewater plant equipment in our in-person facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex systems, and install new equipment as directed by the Utility Director.

The role requires 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, a valid Colorado driver’s license, and the ability to pass background checks. Open until 2026-09-17 at 5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; certificates are a plus.
• 3–5 years' experience in industrial equipment maintenance or electronics/controls.
• Colorado driver’s license and ability to pass background/MVR checks.
• Experience with high horsepower motors, pumps, hydraulics, or 480V controls is preferred.

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on water and wastewater equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Install new mechanical and electrical equipment and assist with projects.

Job description

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Utility Director, repairs, maintains, troubleshoots, and performs preventive and predictive maintenance on all water and wastewater treatment plant equipment as assigned. Installs new mechanical and electrical equipment and performs other related duties as assigned. This is an in-person position that is not eligible for regular remote work.

Experience And Training

• Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Post High School certificates or college credit hours in Industrial Mechanical Maintenance are preferred.
• Job Requirements: Valid Colorado Driver's License, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR with results that are acceptable to the City of Rifle.
• Work Experience in Positions Similar or Related to This Job: Must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in industrial equipment maintenance or with industrial electronics / controls equipment. Familiarity with high horsepower electric motors, large capacity pumps, hydraulic systems, or motor control circuitry (480V) is preferred. Experience in class A or B water or wastewater treatment plant is preferred.

Benefits and Salary

• The wage range is $29.82 to $34.35 hourly depending on experience and qualifications.
