Olameter is hiring a Utility Locator Technician in Lafayette, LA. Full-time field role performing underground utility locating and map interpretation with training provided for inexperienced applicants.

Responsibilities include using locator equipment, following safety protocols, and working under a supervisor to protect utilities such as gas, electric, water, and sewer. Transportation is via company vehicle; hours are daytime. Benefits are included.

Utility Locator Technician

We're currently hiring for UtilityLocator Technicians in Lafayette, LA.

Experienced Locators are preferred, but we are also accepting inexperienced applicants and will provide paid training!

All of our field technicians are provided with:

• Company issued truck
• Company fuel card (yes, we pay your gas!)

Responsibilities:

Line locators will work under the direction of their company supervisor, performing work that involves visual inspection of predefined construction areas and reading and interpretation of utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities, while using special electronic equipment to locate and protect the utility from being damaged. Some of these utilities include gas, electric, water, cable, sewer and more.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
• Upon employment, subject to random drug testing in compliance with DOT guidelines

Working Conditions and Hours:

• Hours are 7:00am - 4:30pm
• Outdoor work environment: up to 10-12 miles of walking on different terrains
• Driving company vehicle to and from work sites

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Successfully complete the company’s training program and pass applicable written and field tests
• Develop a general knowledge of state and local damage prevention regulations
• Learn and apply safety measure relating to motor vehicle operation and other field related matters
