Role Overview

Join our team as a Utility Locator I, where your daily responsibilities will include:

  1. Learning to utilize maps, records, and resources to locate underground utilities accurately.
  2. Operating subsurface utility engineering field equipment such as ground penetrating radar, electromagnetic locators, sewer cameras, and other geophysical tools following safety protocols.
  3. Collaborating with construction crews to ensure safe excavation and utility installation.
  4. Maintaining accurate utility location records and conducting inspections to identify hazards.
  5. Assisting with vehicle, equipment, and site maintenance.
  6. Adhering to company policies and performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED; specialized training from a vo-tech school preferred.
  • Entry-level to 5 years of experience as a utility locator or SUE technician.
  • Knowledge of underground utility systems and ability to interpret maps and records.
  • Experience with utility locating equipment such as electromagnetic locators and ground-penetrating radar.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various terrains and weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally and work over 50 hours during busy periods.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate equipment.
  • Current Commercial Driver's License is a plus.
  • Background checks and drug screening are required.
