Job summary

Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is seeking an on-site Utility Locator to mark and locate water and sewer lines, meters and access points. You will operate GPR, metal detectors, and cable/pipe locators while supporting emergency repairs and construction crews in CFPUA's water and wastewater system.

The role requires basic Math, plan reading, and a valid NC driver’s license, with an on-call rotation for rapid response and safe work-zone setup at multiple CFPUA sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months of utility locator work experience or related field.
• Valid NC driver’s license or ability to obtain quickly.

Responsibilities

• Mark and locate CFPUA water and sewer utilities.
• Operate and maintain locating equipment (GPR, CST, RD).
• Respond to emergency tickets daily and assist with repairs.
• Work with NC811 for line location and review plans.
• Maintain safety zones, traffic control devices, and paperwork.
