Job summary

UtiliQuest, LLC is seeking Experienced Utility Locators to join our SC operations. The role involves locating underground utilities, interpreting maps, and coordinating with excavation teams. A valid driver's license, at least 12 months of locating experience, and the ability to pass a pre-employment screen are required.

We offer paid training, a company vehicle and fuel card, and opportunities for advancement. The position may require some evenings and weekends based on production needs.

Qualifications

• Twelve months or more of verifiable direct utility locating experience.
• Authorized to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive, document and close out excavation notices during normal hours and after hours.
• Read utility maps/prints to identify underground utilities.
• Communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel about underground facilities.
• Operate electronic locating equipment to locate/mark underground facilities within accuracy limits.
• Perform light excavation with a shovel to expose buried utilities when needed.
• Provide accurate documentation/sketches for locates completed.

What you’ll do

• Use a lap-top computer or other devices to receive, document and close out excavation notices, both during normal hours and after hours
• Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities
• Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel, regarding underground facilities
• Operate different electronic detection equipment, to locate and mark under-ground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits
• Perform light excavation with a shovel, to expose buried utilities when necessary.
• Provide accurate documentation and or sketches related to all locates completed
• Receive and respond to excavation notices during normal and after hours in accordance with established time requirements
• Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and maintain a professional appearance
• Be able to perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices
• Perform work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours
• Regular use of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools
• Reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally; bending at the waist; standing and or walking for extended periods of time
• Ability to carry 3-5 lb electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds or lifting in excess of 50 lbs with tool aids
• Hearing and speaking to exchange information
• The employee shall follow all safety rules at all times
• Will need to have the ability to work a flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends) as ticket/production load requires
• Employee will respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call shift rotation

What you’ll need

• You are at least 18 years old
• You have twelve (12) months or greater of verifiable direct utility locating experience
• You are authorized to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience preferred
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
• Upon employment, will be subject to random drug testing in compliance with federal, state and company guidelines
• Proficient in the use of hand tools and equipment. (shovels, screw drivers, wrenches, and ped keys etc.)
• Ability to carry 3-5 lb electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time; lifting objects up to 50 pounds or lifting in excess of 50 lbs with tool aids
