Job summary

Northern Lights Locating and Inspection, Inc. is seeking Utility Locators to identify underground utilities for clients across Indiana. You will locate utilities by 811 tickets, read maps and as-built drawings, and mark locations with flags or paint while documenting work.

Candidates must have 2 years locator experience, be willing to travel 75%+, pass a drug screen, hold a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a DOT physical. A cell-app is used to record locating marks.

Qualifications

• Know best locate practices, procedures and 811 law.
• Read and interpret utility maps and as-built drawings.
• Maintain equipment and perform documentation.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities for clients based on 811 tickets.
• Use maps, GIS and various locating equipment to mark utilities.
• Prepare reports and memos documenting work and issues.
• Take photos of located lines and record locating marks in the app.
• Attend on-call rotation and travel as required.
