A Utility Locator identifies, locates, and marks the location of subsurface utilities to minimize accidental damage or service disruption during construction excavation activities. The role requires familiarity with industry standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Responsibilities

• Locate cables and verify in accordance with blueprints and designated plans
• Maintain company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines
• Perform other duties as assigned

• As the Utility Locator often works alone, you exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment, especially in interpreting equipment readings
• You are responsible for personal actions and any personnel, vehicles, or equipment in your care
• You report accidents or incidents immediately and assist in investigations
• A high school diploma or GED is preferred
• Experience in underground utility construction is a plus
• Knowledge of construction practices and reading blueprints, electronic quarter sections, and plat maps is required
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and overtime as needed
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; CDL (A) license is a plus
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, squatting, climbing, etc.
