Join to apply for the Utility Locator role at Locating Inc.

We are currently offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus for all new, full-time employees ($500 after 3 months, $500 after 6 months).

Overview:

The utility locator will be responsible for driving to various sites to mark equipment for crews and assist the bore crew with utilities. The role requires the ability to drive and experience with the utility color code system. Under supervision, performs visual inspections of construction areas and interprets utility maps to locate underground utilities, using electronic equipment. Utilities may include gas, electric, cable TV, telecommunications, sewer, water lines, street lighting, and other facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Use devices to receive, document, and close excavation notices during and after hours.
• Read and interpret utility maps to identify underground utilities.
• Communicate effectively with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel.
• Operate electronic detection equipment to locate utilities accurately.
• Perform light excavation to expose utilities when necessary.
• Document and sketch locate details.
• Respond to excavation notices promptly.
• Operate company vehicles safely and maintain a professional appearance.
• Perform manhole entry using safety equipment.
• Work in all weather conditions, following safety rules at all times.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid State driver's license with acceptable MVR.
• Ability to pass drug screen and background check; subject to random testing.
• Proficient with hand tools and equipment (shovels, screwdrivers, wrenches, ped keys).
