Job Summary:The role performs limited technical work in locating and mapping water and sewer lines. This role performs investigative work in the location of water and sewer lines, taps, meters, pumps, manholes, and various other associated equipment. Map water and sewer lines on “intersection cards” and assist with complex mapping and drafting activities.Responsibilities:Reads engineering prints to help locate water and sewer mainVisits job sites and takes measurements; records measurements in the log and uses drafting equipment to draw intersection cards using the measurementsTransfer sewer and water main locations from engineer drawings to tax mapsUses shovel or post hole diggers to expose water/sewer main when directedOperates reproduction equipment to produce copies of drawings, intersection cards, and tax mapsProvides customer service over the telephone or in-person by providing information from drawings, tax maps, or intersection cardsActs as a liaison between contractors and MWA to provide water and sewer location informationNotifies inspectors when the right of way infringements are observedNotifies engineering when water taps are suspiciousConducts utility damage investigationsQualifications:High School Graduate or equivalentProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Coursework or experience in drafting or engineering surveying preferredOne to three years of relevant training/experienceValid Georgia Drivers License with a clean driving recordPhysical Requirements:Frequent walking, standing, stooping.Ability to carry 50 to 80 pounds or more. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.Occasionally sitting, crawling, crouching, climbing, and balancing.Physical strength and endurance to perform manual labor for extended periods, possibly under adverse weather or working conditions.It may occasionally require climbing and may involve traveling over various terrains.Ability to grasp and hold.Environmental Working Conditions:The position requires some exposure to working outside, insect bites/stings, poisonous plants, and possibly reptiles.Frequent exposure to dry conditions, high and low humidity, wetness, and inclement weather.Exposure to dust, outside work, sunburn, and moving objects (such as heavy equipment or road traffic).Occasional exposure to working over water or working at heights.Exposure to chemicals includes, but is not limited to: Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, Motor Oil, Hydraulic Oil, Natural Gas, Exhaust fumes, Insecticides, Chlorine, Asphalt/Tar.
