Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an outdoor Utility Locator to locate and mark underground telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer utilities in designated areas. You will use a company-provided vehicle, read tickets and maps, reference prints, and accurately document each locate with photos.

The role requires clear communication with colleagues, contractors, and homeowners, independent work in varying weather, and flexibility for overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Experience with outdoor environments and physical tasks is a plus.
• Familiarity with technology and tickets/prints is required.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities (telecommunications, electric, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer).
• Search designated areas for underground utilities.
• Accurately mark utility locations and reference maps/prints.
• Complete required documentation and photograph each locate.
• Operate with a company-provided vehicle and work independently in the field.
• Use ticket and claims management systems to document and communicate locate results.
• Work daytime full-time with overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.

Job description

• Locate underground telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer utilities


• Search designated areas for underground utilities


• Accurately mark utility locations


• Complete required documentation


• Photograph each locate


• Work independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle


• Use ticket and claims management systems to provide clear and complete mark-out services


• Work daytime full-time schedules, with overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed

Requirements

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions


• Previous outdoor experience is a plus


• Proficiency with technology


• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed


• Able to pass a drug screen


• Valid driver's license and safe driving record


• Able to work in confined spaces


• Able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.


• Able to distinguish colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities


• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints


• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners
