Job Responsibilities

1. Identify and locate City of Thornton utilities, including water, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, fiber optic, and traffic signal facilities, and coordinate this information with other entities.
2. Respond to emergency notification requests for utility locates.
3. Review and screen locate ticket requests from the Utility Notification Center of Colorado.
4. Update utility locate sheets based on field observations.
5. Draft reports of damaged utilities.
6. Collaborate with field personnel to address construction issues and concerns.
7. Respond to customer inquiries regarding projects.
8. Inspect public and private facilities in the right-of-way to ensure compliance with City standards.
9. Conduct stormwater management inspections on projects.
10. Review plans and specifications for public improvement projects.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience in construction inspection or related field. Experience in utility locates is highly desirable.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of City policies, procedures, and goals.
• Understanding of utility locate procedures and relevant laws and regulations.
• Skills in using locating equipment and preparing reports.
• Effective communication and analytical skills.
• Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting and operating equipment.

Work Conditions

Position involves outdoor and indoor work, physical activity, and may require overtime. Must be able to handle various environmental conditions.
