Job summary

ELM Utility Services in Durango, Colorado is seeking a Utility Locate Technician to accurately locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and whiskers. You will operate a company vehicle as your mobile office on a daily route of locate requests.

This DOT-safety sensitive role requires passing pre-employment screenings, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work nights or weekends as needed; the position includes a comprehensive benefits package and a starting wage

• Safety-Sensitive DOT position that must comply with all Federal DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Work independently outdoors with company vehicle as mobile office, completing a route of locate requests daily.
• Accurately locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and whiskers.
• Use mobile work system to receive daily tasks.
• Work on-call rotation and overtime as needed, including nights and weekends.

ELM Technicians are essential in their communities, ensuring that gas, electric, and communication systems are dependable and well-maintained. They perform high-quality utility marking to avoid damage during excavation of these vital facilities. Starting wages for this position will be $25.00, depending on experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Working independently outdoors with your company-provided vehicle as your mobile office, you will complete a route of locate requests each day
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers
• Use your mobile work system to receive your daily task
• Must be able to work on-call rotation and overtime as needed. This may include working on nights and weekends when necessary.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug, Motor Vehicle Record, and background check. ***Please note: This is a Safety-Sensitive DOT position that must comply with all Federal Department of Transportation regulations.
