Job summary

ELM Utility Services is hiring a Utility Locate Technician in Apple Valley, Minnesota. You will perform outdoor utility marking to prevent damage during excavation, using marking paint, flags, and whiskers with a company vehicle as your mobile office.

Starting pay ranges from $25.00 to $31.00 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), PTO, holidays, and more. Must be able to work on-call and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, MVR, and background check.
• DOT regulation compliance may apply to the role.
• High school diploma or GED and 18+ years of age required.

Responsibilities

• Work independently outdoors with company vehicle as mobile office, complete routes of locate requests daily.
• Accurately locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, or whiskers.
• Use mobile work system to receive daily tasks.
• Ability to work on-call and overtime, including nights and weekends when needed.

ELM Technicians are essential in their communities, ensuring that gas, electric, and communication systems are dependable and well-maintained. Starting wages for this position will be $25.00-$31.00 depending on experience

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Working independently outdoors with your company-provided vehicle as your mobile office, you will complete a route of locate requests each day
• Accurately, safely, and efficiently locate and mark underground utilities using marking paint, flags, and sometimes whiskers
• Use your mobile work system to receive your daily tasks
• Must be able to work on-call rotation and overtime as needed. This may include working on nights and weekends when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug, Motor Vehicle Record, and background check. ***Please note: This is a Safety-Sensitive DOT position that must comply with all Federal Department of Transportation regulations. The use of Marijuana remains a drug listed in Schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act, and the use of marijuana (medical or recreational) is prohibited.
