E.K. Services Inc. is hiring a Utility Laborer/Pipelayer to work with the foreman and crew on piping installations and trench work.

The role involves shoveling, backfilling trenches, staging materials, fueling equipment, and delivering materials to the site while following established safety practices and company values. The candidate will assist in setting up work zones, locating utilities, performing traffic control when needed, and maintaining a clean, organized job site.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Pre-employment drug screen required.
• DOT physical required.
• Drivers' license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Gather tools, equipment, and materials needed to perform job tasks.
• Provide support to project foreman, fellow laborers and other personnel on site.
• Guide dump trucks to dumping sites and spot the driver around overhead utilities.
• Locate underground utilities using hand tools and vacuum excavation equipment.
• Perform traffic control operations when necessary.
• Assist in setting up work zone patterns per PennDOT Pub 213 specs as directed by the foreman.
• Perform general housekeeping including cleanup and organization of the site, tools, trucks, trailers and equipment.
• Assist in assembling and installing trench protection.
• Other duties as assigned, including various labor tasks such as restoration or flagging.

Utility Laborer/Pipelayer Job Summary:

The Utility Laborer works with Foreman, Operators, and other team members to lay out and install multiple types of piping, shoveling, backfilling trenches, staging of materials, fueling equipment, obtaining, and delivering materials and equipment to the site and general daily clean-up activities while adhering to established processes for the performance of day-to day project activities using safe work practices. Eligible candidates will actively work with crew to meet production and to uphold the company core values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Gathers tools, equipment, and materials needed to perform job tasks.
• Provides support to project foreman, fellow labors and any other personnel assigned to the site.
• Guides dump trucks to dumping sites and spots the driver around over head utilities.

• Assists in set up of work zone patterns to PennDot publication 213 specifications as provided by the site foreman.

• Other duties as assigned which can include multiple areas of labor including restoration or flagging

Physical Requirements:

• Work environment conditions consist of working in all weather conditions and where the conditions could be wet, dirty, or dusty.
• Ability to climb in and out of excavations
• The ability to frequently lift 20 to 100lbs
• Ability to work extended hours during construction season (OT is paid at time and a half)
• Ability to occasionally travel and to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required
